The input equatorial RA and Dec in J2000 input coordinates must be in either decimal degrees, or space or colon separated sexagesimal coordinates as shown below:
Example | Right Ascension(units) | Declination(units) | Radius (units) |
---|---|---|---|
1 | 123.456 (°) | 12.345 (°) | 0.4(´) |
2 | 08:13:49.44(hrs:min:sec) | 12:20:42.0 (°:´:´´) | 0.4(´) |
3 | 08 13 49.44(hrs min sec) | 12 20 42.0 (° ´ ´´) | 0.4(´) |
Examples of invalid queries:
RA=081349.44 Dec=122042.0 or RA=81349.44 Dec=122042.0
RA=08;13;49.44 Dec=12;20;42.0 or RA=08-13-49.44 Dec=12-20-42.0
RA=123.456 Dec=123.45 or RA=M31 Dec=M31
If you have coordinates in other systems you may wish to try the conversion tools at gsfc or heasarc. See the following document for the definition of a cone search.
